    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: August 21, 2026. This policy covers the RoughCut macOS app and the website at roughcut.livup.app, both published by LiVuP LLC.

    Summary

    • Your media, libraries and transcripts are processed locally on your Mac.
    • RoughCut has no account system and does not require you to sign in.
    • Diagnostics are never transmitted automatically.
    • We run no third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this website.

    Information the app processes

    RoughCut reads the Final Cut Pro libraries you explicitly grant access to, including clip metadata and existing transcriptions, in order to provide search, Rough Cut assembly, project creation and FCPXML export. This processing happens entirely on your Mac. The documents you save (.roughcut files), created Final Cut Pro projects and exported FCPXML remain on your own storage. We do not upload, copy or index your media on any server.

    Diagnostics

    RoughCut may write local logs to help you diagnose problems. These logs are never transmitted automatically. If you contact support, you may choose to export a diagnostic report; you can inspect the file before sending it and you decide whether to send it at all. Reports you email us are used solely to resolve your issue and are deleted when the issue is closed.

    "Copy for AI"

    The Copy for AI feature places text on your Mac's clipboard. RoughCut does not send it anywhere. If you paste that text into a third-party assistant, that service's own privacy policy governs what happens next.

    Purchases

    RoughCut uses Apple's StoreKit for the one-time in-app purchase and its trial. Apple processes the payment and shares only the entitlement status needed to unlock the feature. We never receive or store your payment card details, billing address or Apple Account credentials. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

    This website

    roughcut.livup.app is a static site served over HTTPS. It sets no advertising or analytics cookies and embeds no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider processes standard server request data (such as IP address and user agent) for security and reliability; we do not use it to build profiles of visitors.

    Email you send us

    If you email support@livup.app, we receive your address and message and use them only to respond. We do not add you to a marketing list.

    Children

    RoughCut is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

    Your rights

    Because RoughCut keeps your work on your own Mac, you can delete it at any time by removing the relevant files. For any personal data we hold as a result of support correspondence, you may request access or deletion by emailing privacy@livup.app.

    Changes

    If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes.
