    Terms of Use

Last updated: August 21, 2026. These terms govern your use of the RoughCut macOS application and this website, published by LiVuP LLC ("we", "us"). By installing or using RoughCut you agree to them.

    1. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use RoughCut on Macs you own or control, in accordance with these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. You may not reverse engineer, resell, rent or redistribute the app, or remove any proprietary notices, except where such restrictions are prohibited by law.

    2. Free features

Browsing Final Cut Pro libraries, searching transcripts, building and editing Rough Cuts and saving .roughcut documents are available at no cost. We intend to keep these features free, and will give notice in the app's release notes if that ever changes for future versions.

    3. Trial and one-time unlock

Creating editable Final Cut Pro projects is a paid feature, unlocked by a one-time in-app purchase named "Create Final Cut Projects". A 7-day trial of the feature begins the first time you successfully create a Final Cut Pro project. When the trial ends, the feature stops working until the purchase is completed; your Rough Cuts and documents remain usable. The current price and currency are shown in the app and on the Mac App Store listing at the time of purchase, and introductory pricing may change at our discretion for future purchases.

    4. Payments and refunds

All purchases are made through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple is the merchant of record; we do not process payments. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Purchases can be restored on your other Macs using the same Apple Account via Restore Purchases.

    5. Your content

You retain all rights to your media, libraries, transcripts and the projects you create. We claim no ownership over them and, because processing is local, we do not receive them. You are responsible for holding the necessary rights to the footage you work with.

    6. Acceptable use

Do not use RoughCut to infringe others' rights or to violate applicable law, and do not attempt to circumvent the purchase or trial mechanisms.

    7. No affiliation with Apple

Final Cut Pro is a trademark of Apple Inc. RoughCut is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc. RoughCut interoperates with Final Cut Pro through documented macOS mechanisms; Apple provides no warranty or support for RoughCut.

    8. Disclaimer of warranty

RoughCut is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free. Always keep backups of your Final Cut Pro libraries and media before running any tool against them.

    9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LiVuP LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, footage, profits or time, arising from your use of RoughCut. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you actually paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

    10. Termination

This licence ends if you stop using RoughCut or breach these terms. Sections 5 through 9 survive termination.

    11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.

    12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions: support@livup.app.
